James Louis Anthony was the 4th child of Claude Oscar Anthony and Ola Mae Pitcock. He married Freddie White 30 Sep 1939 in Panola County, Mississippi. They had three children.

Louis farmed early in life but later ran a service station in Water Valley. He also boxed for a brief period in his younger years. Had you ever met him, it would have been surprising to learn he was involved in so violent a sport. He was such a kind and humble man, but he was most certainly a sports fanatic- Ole Miss being his favorite school to watch. He loved Ole Miss baseball, because his son and grandson played on the team at different times, but watching basketball gave him the most pleasure. He had a dry sense of humor, good control of his tongue, patience in spades, immeasurable faith in the Lord, and loved well.

Louis passed away at his son's home in Southaven, Mississippi. Though he suffered with rheumatoid arthritis for years, it was cancer that took him home.
