GENE ALDREID WATTS

BOILING SPRING LAKES -- Mr. Gene Aldreid Watts, age 76, of Boiling Spring Lakes, died Friday, February 4, 2011, at his residence.

Mr. Watts was born in Southport, NC on December 4, 1934, and was the son of Hazel Hickman Watts of Boiling Spring Lakes and the late Samuel Watts. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Maye Lee Watts. He was a Longshoreman and owned and operated Gene's Speakeasy Store of Boiling Spring Lakes. During the 1950's he owned and operated a Pogey boat the "Debbie Sue". He was a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran.

Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Jeanette Watts; three sons, Randall Aldreid Watts of Winnabow, Charles Russell Watts of Winnabow, Samuel Harrison Watts of Aberdeen, Maryland; five daughters, Debbie Sue McDaniel of Hollywood, Florida, Suzanne Watts of Southport, Joanne Watts Hopper of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Donna Jean Watts and Erica Watts Evans of Boiling Spring Lakes; a brother, Jerry Douglas Watts of Fayetteville, North Carolina; two sisters, Annette Watts Brendle and Harriet Watts Bevel of Boiling Spring Lakes; 18 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sunday February 6, 2011, at 3pm at the chapel of Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Service, 1411 N. Howe Street, Southport with Reverend Dan Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the funeral home.
