Ralph James Flitton, age 86, passed away on February 4, 2011 from respiratory failure after a recent operation.

Ralph was born in Sandy on June 5, 1924 to Curtis Monroe Flitton and Luella Rawson. He served his country in World War II on the USS Mississippi in the South Pacific. Ralph enlisted on December 8, 1941. His great enjoyment was to fish the Madison River with his friends, the Ballard Brothers. Ralph married Donna Atwood on September 1, 1948.

Ralph was member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He had many callings but most recently served a mission calling with his wife for eight years at the conference center and fifteen years as an ordinance worker at the Jordan River Temple.

Ralph is survived by his wife Donna, sisters Myrle and Charlotte, daughter Loretta (Phillip) Christensen, son Craig (Irene) Flitton, daughter Shelly (Dale) Poplin, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by son Denny, father Curtis, mother Luella, and brothers Wilford, Dick, Dave, Jack, Harold, and Ron.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 in the Fair Oaks Ward Chapel, 8400 South 586 East, at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held on Sunday between 6:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral.
Interment will be in the Sandy City Cemetery.
