James Richard "Coozie" Alcoke, 76, died Tuesday, February 1 at St. Joseph Hospital. Born in Woodford County, he was a son of the late Wallace and Mary Frances Simon Alcoke, and was a member of the First Christian Church. Mr. Alcoke retired from IBM and was very active in his community. He served four years on the Ciry Council of Versailles and twenty-four years as a Magistrate on the Woodford County Fiscal Court. He was a U S Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, former Woodford Circuit Court Clerk, Mary Nave "Sissy" Alcoke, his daughter, Melissa Alcoke (Michael) Biles of Lexington, a stepson, Edward C. (Ellen) Nickles, III of Boston, Mass, a granddaughter, Amanda Moore of Versailles, three step grandchildren, Taylor, Emily, and Sam Nickles, and a brother, William (Peggy) Alcoke of Richmond, VA.
