Mary's actual date of death was August 19, 1899 according to her death certificate. She had two children Orma May and Oscar G. Martin. She lived on Crow Island. Her death certificate indicated that she was 24 years and 3 months and that she died of TB. She lost three sisters to the disease prior to her own death and one brother three months after her death. People did not know how contagious the disease was at that time and the sisters went from home to home caring for each other and eventually succumbing to the disease. There were 13 children in this family. The oldest brother, Edward, died in an accident in December of 1891, five of them were lost to TB.
