Son of Thomas Todd, Jr., and Betty Daggett.
.
Husband of Lydia Church, whom he married on May 21, 1828, in Franklin, Warren, OH, and with whom he had six known children: Caroline Todd
Frances Todd
Hiram Church Todd
Martha Todd
Walter Wilson Todd
Edgar Todd
.
Note: The monuments here in Blooms Grove are cenotaphs. Hiram Todd and his family are actually buried in the Mound Grove Cemetery.
Actual Burial
.
The story concerning the burials is as follows:
"Hiram Todd and three of his children - Caroline, Martha and Edgar - were initially buried in the "door yard" on the family property. Hiram had buried his children there and wanted to be buried there himself.
.
"His wife, Lydia (Church) Todd, survived him by more than 20 years and died in 1871. She was buried in the Mound Grove Cemetery, where her son Hiram Church Todd had purchased a family plot. Hiram, the elder, and the three children were moved from their original burial places on the family property to the Mound Grove Cemetery and a family monument was erected there on which were five names: husband (Hiram), wife (Lydia) and the three children (Caroline, Edgar, and Martha).
.
"Ninety years later, in 1957, a descendant (Dorothy Todd) had this monument removed from the family plot and replaced by a granite marker on which is engraved only the word, "TODD."
.
"Some time later, (in the 1970's?) Leland Bray found the derelict and discarded monument and had it moved to the Blooms Grove Cemetery so that the family would be remembered in the town where they had lived. None of the family were ever buried in this cemetery. The monument, inscribed with the five names (Hiram, Lydia, Caroline, Edgar and Martha) is a cenotaph.
