"Last rites for Samuel W. Maytubby, Sr. were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 in Caddo followed by burial in the Caddo Cemetery.
Mr. Maytubby, father of Mrs. Price Townsend of this city, died Monday night in a Pawnee hospital following an illness of several months. He was 91 years of age and was well known here having visited his daughter on many occasions.
In the early days of Oklahoma's history, Mr. Maytubby led the fight for Indian rights seeking help in Washington for the Indians. He was an appraiser for the Dawes commission and later made his home at Caddo where he was a rancher, farmer and postmaster.
A son, Floyd Maytubby of Oklahoma City, is governor of the Chickasaw Nation at this time."
