George Mendez Marks Dec. 15, 1916 ~ Jan. 21, 2011

Resident of San Leandro Born in Maui, 12/15/16. Son of Antone & Mary Cardoza Marks. Lived in Maui, San Francisco, Grass Valley and San Leandro. Died in Fremont on 1/21/11. Survived by brother, Louis of Hawaii. Preceded in death by brother John Marks and sister Helen Pestana. He is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. George served in the US Army 1940-1945. He was at the Omaha Beach, Normandy Invasion. He worked for Dole Pineapple, American Can, Univ of Phoenix, and SLUSD. He was a member of St. Leander's Catholic Church. Also a member of the Holo-Holo, Hui Kamaaina & Outrigger clubs. Our special thanks to the staff at Lincoln Villa Assisted Living in Fremont for their excellent care of George these past 8 months. Thanks also to those who visited with George during his stay. Per George's request, there will be no funeral services. His remains will be buried with his parents in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Hayward.
