IN MEMORIAM - Mrs. Herman Liborious Sandbothe (nee Susanna Mary Ihler) who died in St. Francis Hospital, Washington, Mo., August 10th, 1928, was born at Waynesville, Mo., May 4th, 1863. Mrs. Sandbothe had been an invalid for the last few years, suffering from an open sore on one ankle. Local Doctors, and several extended treatments by Dr. Latham failed to secure a permanent cure. A few weeks before death Mrs. Sandbothe visited her daughter, Mrs. Genevieve Kandelbinder, at Washington, and incidentally took treatments, at last in the St. Francis Hospital.
In 1891 deceased was married at Koeltztown to Mr. Herman Liborious Sandbothe who survives her. The Sandbothe's were blessed with seven children. Two are dead. The living are: Mrs. Caspar (Rose) Kaiser, Herman John, Peter Paul, Bernard, all of this place; and Mrs. Genevieve Kandelbinder, of Washington, MO. Other surviving relatives are three brothers, Messrs. John, Philip and Tony Ihler, of this place; and four sisters, Mrs. John Beckett, Hench, Mo., Mrs. James Griffin, Washington, MO., Mrs. John Brummer, Osage Bend, MO. and Mrs. Emil Koch, of Secaucus, New Jersey. Also eight grandchildren survive.
Mrs. Sandbothe was of industrious habits and skilled not only with household implements but also with hoe and when required with plow. Her kindly, motherly disposition was manifested in the sick room. Her habitual response to emergency calls made her a familiar emergency helper in most of the homes of the community. She will be missed.
The body was brought from Washington and lay in state in the Sandbothe home till 13th at 8:30 a.m. The funeral services were held in the Visitation and a crowded edifice indicated a community sympathy well called a tribute to her memory. The remains were placed in the Visitation Cemetery. We extend sincere sympathy to the sorrowing relatives.
