Hattie L., 91, of OKC, died July 17, 2002. She was born September 6, 1910, in Beaver County, OK to Samuel and Mattie Long. She married Len Asplin in 1934 and he passed away in 1942. She married L.O. 'Bus' Abbott in 1946 and he passed away in 1975. Hattie was a member of 4H Clubs as a very young person and continued involvement in Extension Homemakers Clubs as an adult. She was involved in homemaking organizations for more than 80 years of her life. She was also involved in AARP. NARFE, 89er's and many other such groups. She was not a passive participant but an active one, holding many official positions. She was a 'Rosie the Riveter' from 1942 to 1945 at Tinker Field building C47's. She was an active member at St. John's United Methodist Church for some 40 years, holding several positions through the years. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Clifford Long, two sisters, Ruth Swart and Ruby Arnold. She is survived by a brother, Roy C. Long of Anderson, IN; a nephew, Dale Long and his wife Nancy of Oklahoma City, which she regarded as her children, plus nine other nieces, nephews and their spouses and other family members. Services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 20th at Guardian West Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. GUARDIAN WEST 41 & N. MacArthur 495-9292
