Loretta Townsend, 69, of Chattanooga, TN passed away Saturday, January 29, 2011, at her residence.
She made a career of loving people, spreading peace and being a devoted mother, not only to her own children, but also anyone who needed love or a helping hand. She was the ear that would always listen, with the mouth that had all the right words to heal your pain. She spread Gods love and words to "Love One Another", never judge anyone and always forgive.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Ed Townsend; daughters, Stacey Carney and Susan Webb; son, Robert Vanderburg; parents, Worley and Esther Webb; and granddaughter, Selena Webb.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Woody, Angela Vanderburg and Synamon Townsend; two sons, J.P. James Jr. and Raymond Woody; two grandchildren, Kason Webb and James S. Vanderburg, all of Chattanooga; one sister, Billie Ruth Nickens, of Kingsport, Tenn.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, friend and companion, Robert Bridges and many other friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Brother Jimmie Ingram officiating.
Burial: Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
The body will lie-in-state today after 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home and a family hour will be from 5-8 p.m.
