She was the daughter of the Richard Henry Pratt and Margaret Middleton Ferguson Pratt, and the widow of the late William Pope White who died in 1962.
Her father was a great-great-grandson of Roswell King, for whom Roswell, Georgia is named. He built two of the Pratt ancestral homes still standing: Barrington Hall and Bulloch Hall at Roswell, the latter being the mansion where Teddy Roosevelt's parents were married.

Margaret Middleton Pratt White married Rear Admiral J. Lloyd "Doc" Abbot in 1975. Mrs. Abbot was a native of Richmond, VA but had been a resident of Mobile since 1933, and was a 1934 graduate of Murphy High School. She worked for the First National Bank of Mobile until 1975 and was a long time member of All Saints Episcopal Church and the National Society of Colonial Dames. She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. James Gooch (Margo) of Dallas, Texas a son, William Pope White of Austin, Texas, four grandchildren and two great-grand children.
