Jacob Carl Heuett was born at Terre Haute, Indiana, Nov. 4, 1953; died at Jaques Spur, Idaho, Feb. 7, 1927, age 73, buried in Reubens, Ida. When a small boy he came to Missouri where he grew to manhood. He was married in Adair County, Mo., on Jan 1, 1874, to Elizabeth Myers, who still survives him. To this union nine children were born of whom seven are living; Mrs. E.F. Stamper, of Lewiston, Idaho; W.D. Heuett, Curlew, Wash.; Mrs Jennie Marquam and Mrs. Verna Nifong of Reubens, Idaho; Geo., Guy and June Heuett of Jaques Spur. He was 30 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Two brothers are living, George Heuett of Cokeville, Wyoming and Henry Heuett of Ames, Iowa. The couple came to Melrose, Idaho in 1898, but later lived at Reubens for a few years.
A funeral service was held at Jaques Spur for Jacob Heuett and an open service at the grave at Reubens was conducted,Rev. W. H. Kole giving the message of consolation. Most of the relatives and a large number of friends attended the obsequies.
Another obituary was also found in the Lewiston Morning Tribune, Feb. 9, 1927.
He died from stomach cancer. They lost the homestead at Melrose because of his illness.

Jacob was well known for being an old time veterinarian or 'horse doctor' as they were know in the old days. His stock doctor book. has been donated to the Nezperce Visitor's Center Museum at Nezperce, ID. He was well and favorably known throughout the Clearwater section as a man of character and steadfastness. (From his obit.)
