Arturo J. Capone, 80, Altoona, died Mon., Jan. 31,2011 at Altoona Hospital. He was born in Altoona to Costantino & Cristina (Tupone) Capone. He married Dawnjannelle Marie Kushner on Aug. 4, 1956, in Altoona and she died Sept. 24, 2009. Survived by daughters: Nicole Roefaro & husband, John, of Altoona and Keana McMahon & husband, Matt, of Pittsburgh; 8 grandchildren; sister, Lilia Sprankle of Altoona; and brothers: Dino in New York, Alberto in California and Eugene of Altoona. Predeceased by brother, Domenick. Arturo attended Altoona High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Conrail, where he had worked in the paint shop, and he also had previously worked for Blair Candy. Member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church; Fort Apache VFW; Unter Uns; Bavarian Aid Society; Brush Mountain Sportsmen's Assn.; Juniata Civic Assn. and Juniata Ballfield Assn. Arturo enjoyed bowling, gardening and time spent with his family and grandchildren. He was active in softball, football and basketball. Santella Funeral Home, Altoona. Committal, Calvary Cemetery.
