Mary was a Washington DC socialite, writer, and an artist.

She was the daughter of Amos (an attorney and member of the Progressive party) and Ruth (Pickering) Pinchot (a writer).

Raised at Grey Towers in Milford, Pennsylvania. She married Cord Meyer, CIA official, in 1944. They were divorced in 1958 and he died in 2001. They had three children.

She was a friend to several important political people in Washington including President John Kennedy.

Mary was murdered 2 days before her 44th birthday in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington DC. Her funeral was held at the National Cathedral.

The murderer was acquitted of the murder and set free. There are still many questions about her death due to her involvement and friends in the political world of the 1960s.

She was the granddaughter of famed naturalist, Gifford Pinchot.
