Matthew E. George

Matthew E. George, 88 a resident of the Pennsylvania Soldiers & Sailors Home died there Sunday January 30, 2011. He was born in Sykesville, Pa. October 14, 1922, son of the late Matthew and Catherine Pavlick George.

Matthew was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of the Gem City Outdoorsmen Club.

Survivors inlude his sisters, Nancy Wood of Fairview, Pa., Vivian Lacny of Ky., and Irene Cogley of Butler, Pa.; and his close friend, Charlotte Hillman; and her children, Annette Amil, Kathy Rider, Cindy Steinhoff, Ted, Frank, and Bill Hillman.

Friends may call at the Soldiers & Sailors Home Chapel, on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Chrisitan Burial there at 11am.

Burial will be in Soldiers & Sailors Cemetery with full military honors.

The Carl A. Slomski & Son Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
