Anna Marion Outwater Day died in the 109th year of her life on January 9, 2016. She was born in New York City to Addison and Maude Elizabeth Corder Outwater on August 25, 1907. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lincoln Day, Jr.; and her granddaughter, Anne Corder Dinwiddie.

Anna graduated from Westfield (NJ) High School in 1923 and from Bucknell University in 1927, where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority and Mu Phi Epsilon music fraternity. She earned a masters degree from Columbia University. In order to get a job, she went to secretarial school and then was an executive secretary at the long-lines division of AT & T until her marriage in 1935. She and Walter celebrated their fiftieth anniversary before his death in 1985.
Anna was a member, and frequently president, of many organizations in her lifetime and still maintained membership in the Musical Club of Westfield. Music and church were two abiding passions throughout her life. She was a communicant of First Presbyterian Church, Charlottesville, Va. at the time of her death.
A service of Witness to the Resurrection and in celebration of Anna's life will be held at the church on Sunday, January 24, 2016, at 4 p.m. The family will greet friends following the service.The Cremation Society of Virginia cared for the remains. Suggested memorials to Bucknell University, First Pres Kitchen Fund, or something the donor cares for.
