Susan R. Foels of New Richland passed away at St. John's Lutheran Home, Albert Lea, Thursday at 10 p.m. She had been a resident of St. John's for the past eight and one half years. She had been ill ever since entering the home and died from the complications of age.
A daughter of Emil C. Sandretzky and his wife, Rose Hardy, she was born in Alma City, June 23, 1885. She attended Waseca schools and worked for her father in a general store until her marriage.
On December 10, 1919, she married Otto L. Foels of New Richland at Waseca. They moved to a farm near New Richland at the time of their marriage, where she resided until her illness.
A member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, New Richland, she was a life member of the ALCW and mission circles of that church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Oswald (Marjorie) Evenson of Albert Lea and Mrs. Don (Lola) Breilein of Grand Ledge, Mich.; seven grandchildren, Susan Williams, Diane Evenson, Louise Isenberg, Bruce Breilein, Julie Erickson, Craig Evenson and Bob Breilein and a great grandson, Garret Williams.
Her husband preceded her in death on March 8, 1976. Her parents and two sisters and four brothers also preceded her.
Funeral services were Monday at 11 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, New Richland, with the Rev. Philip Lewison officiating. Interment was in St. Peter's Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Raymond Wood, Dennis Byrne, Merlin Krueger and Jacob Hoelz, all of New Richland, Marlowe Spurr of Ellendale and Gordon Foels of Waseca.
Friedrich Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
