Al Schweitzer is one of last three major league baseball players buried in Licking County. (The others Paul carpenter Wilson, and Woody English Fredonia). Born in Cleveland, Schweitzer made his major league debut with the St. Louis Browns in 1908. An outfielder, he remained with the team through 1911. In 1915, he began the season with Lima of the short lived Buckeye League. He left Lima to join Dayton of the Central League shortly before the Buckeye went under in July.
