Lindsey West, 97, of Hickory passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Frye Regional Medical Center. He was born August 1, 1918 in Ranburne, AL to the late Henry and Fronie Williams West. Lindsey was a Navy veteran, retired dairy farmer, and a member of The Church at Carrollton in Carrollton, GA where he served as deacon. He was a member of the Cattleman’s Association and Woodsmen Fraternity. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother; Hank West, sisters; Novie Wilkes and Cora Newman. Those left to cherish his memory; Wife of 34 years: Frances Stroud Goans West; sons: Ron Goans and wife Kathy of Newton, Greg Goans and wife Mary Jo of Nebo, Bobby Goans and wife Beth of Hickory; daughters: Diane Bowman and husband Harold of Nashville, Linda Marlow of Newton, Cynthia Jarvis and husband Edward of Newton; nephews: Vernon Wilkes of Carrollton, GA, Jimmy Wilkes of Carrollton, GA; niece: Dee McClure of Warner Robbins, GA; numerous Step-Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at The Church at Carrollton. A service to celebrate Lindsey’s life will follow at 11:30 a.m. at The Church at Carrollton. Rev. Greg Drake will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
