Opal B. Merritt
Graveside services for Mrs. Opal B. Merritt, 96, of Minden, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008 at Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Ben Jordan officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Minden. Visitation will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. today, February 19.
Mrs. Merritt was born June 4, 1911 in Leton and died Feb. 17, 2008 in Haynesville. Mrs. Merritt was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Evergreen Union Church.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Burnice M. Merritt; her parents, Marion and Sebonia Blackwell; two brothers, Conrad G. Blackwell and Roy B. Blackwell; and one sister, Ovie Thomas.
She is survived by two sons, James Merritt of Evergreen and Gordon Merritt of Plano, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
