George Henry Sparks, 89, Nampa died Saturday at a Delta, Utah, hospital following a short illness. He was born July 8, 1888, at Marsh Valley. He moved with his parents to Dingle where he was reared and attended schools. He married Maida Selena Oakey June 6, 1912, at the Salt Lake City, Utah, LDS Temple. They moved to Nampa in 1920. He had been a dairyman and a farmer in the Lonestar District in Nampa for many years. Mrs. Sparks died Aug. 31, 1964. He married Lenore Walker at Las Vegas, Nev., in October 1965. She died June 23, 1973. He was still an active member of the Nampa Eighth Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and also worked on the LDS Church Welfare Farm. He was a charter member of the Nampa Countrymen's Club.
Survivors include one son, George C. Sparks, Kennewick, Wash.; four daghters, Mrs. R.E. (Elena) Cameron, Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. Owen (Lenore) Gardner, Delta, Utah, Mrs. J.O. (Pearl) Young, Nampa, Mrs. Richard (Lou Estelle) Gardner, Delta, Utah; 22 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his two wives, he was preceded in death by one sister.
