"Richfield---The sad news was received here Friday morning that Daniel Ames, aged seventy-six years, had died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harold Wilcox at Winfield. He is the last one of six children of Mr. and Mrs. Almond Ames. Nearly fifty years ago he was united in marriage to Mary Gano. Five children were born to them, James A. and Ralph, of Boise City, Idaho, Marion D. of Richfield Springs and Hazel and Ruby of Winfield. Through his efforts a grange was organized here in 1892. For several years he held the office of master and was an active and enthusiastic member during his life. The funeral was held from the residence of Harold Wilcox on Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock. Wednesday morning the remains were brought to Richfield Springs and placed in the receiving vault. Later they will be brought here and interred in the family lot." ["The Freeman's Journal" (Cooperstown, NY), Mar. 3, 1920, Page 3]
