EDWARD EUGENE PETERSON

Edward Eugene Peterson, oldest son of Victor and Augusta Peterson, was born in Muchakinock, Iowa, Nov. 28, 1885, and passed away July 12, 1956, at the Baker nursing home in Chariton, after spending more than seven weeks in Des Moines and Iowa City hospitals. He had been in failing health for the past five years. Most of his life was spent in Monroe and Lucas counties.

He was married to Eva Berquist at the Lutheran church in Buxton, Iowa, in September, 1906. He leaves to mourn his passing his widow and six children, two daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Walker of Russell and Mrs. Mae Wiese of Des Moines, and four sons, Harlan of Des Moines, Hubert, Royal and Dale of Chariton and 19 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Elna Shepard of Ottumwa and one brother, Clarence Peterson of San Pablo, Calif., and four nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one son.

Mr. Peterson was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church.

Funeral services were held at the First Lutheran church in Chariton Sunday, July 15, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Lester Carlson officiating. Interment was in the Chariton cemetery. Beardsley funeral home had charge of arrangements.
