John was born north of Jansen, Nebraska in the Braasch family log cabin. In 1886, he was confirmed in the Cub Creek Church by the Reverend Philip Tester. On February 17, 1897, he married Anna Maria Kunecke in the same church. They became the parents of three children: Mathilda, John and Arthur. They also raised Mary Lou Braasch. John and Anna lived on a farmed one mile west of Harbine, Nebraska until 1929. Then they moved into town. John died at Harbine.
