Mary's maiden name unknown married first John Reeder and had children Thomas, Joseph, Jesse, Nancy Ann, Amos. Her husband John Reeder died 10 March 1802. Mary married her second husband James Samuel Fruit on 27 Nov 1813 in Christian, Kentucky, USA. James Samuel Fruit died 9 OCTOBER 1834 in Kenney, De Witt, Illinois, United States.

Contributed By: TCB - January 2016Mary was born circa 1752, in Virginia her parents are unknown. Mary married her first husband John Reeder who was born circa 1740 in Fairfax Virginia. John is the son of Simon Reeder and Anastasia Dunbar.

Note, some families trees have her maiden name as "Cole" this is not correct they are mixing her up with Mary Cole wife of William Reeder who was Mary's first husband John's brother.

Mary and John Reeder had five children:

1. Thomas Reeder
2. Joseph Reeder
3. Jesse Reeder
4. Nancy Ann Reeder
5. Amos Reeder

John Reeder died on 10 March, 1802 in Newberry South Carolina. At some point Mary made the move to Christian Kentucky where she met her second husband.

Mary married her second husband James Samuel Fruit on November 27, 1813 in Christian County Kentucky. They were married by Jonathon Clark.

James and Mary remained in Christian County for 30 years. They moved to what is now DeWitt County Illinois circa 1831. James Samuel Fruit had settled there for three years when the year of the great snow in 1831 caused James to lose his last battle at the age of 73. James Samuel Fruit died October 9, 1834 and he lies in Turnbridge Cemetery. Mary(Reeder-Fruit) died 7 September 1838 she is buried at Kincaid Cemetery near her son Amos and family in Scott County Illinois.
