Joanne Wysocki was born Joanne Miller on 3 Feb 1933 in Jeannette, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania to Michael Paul Miller and Stella Catherine (Brown) Miller. The first of three girls born to the Millers, she was named for her maternal grandmother, Josephine, and her paternal grandmother, Anne. As a girl, Joanne added "Margaret" to her name as part of her Roman Catholic Confirmation ritual.

Joanne grew up in Jeannette, where her father worked in the rubber industry. When she was in her last year of high school, her family relocated to Warren, Trumbell, Ohio. Joanne chose to remain in Jeannette until she graduated high school. She then attended Pennsylvania State University, where she studied English. After college, she lived with her parents in Ohio, where she began working as a secretary.

While at her job one day, Joanne met Peter Patrick Wysocki, who was also a Pennsylvania native (Apollo) whose family had relocated to Ohio. After first meeting Peter, Joanne told one of her co-workers that she knew Peter was the man she would marry. Four months later, Joanne and Peter eloped to Indiana and married on 4 April 1958. Although the marriage was legal, Joanne's parents felt that a civil marriage was not valid in the eyes of God. To keep the peace, Joanne agreed to live with her parents until a church ceremony could be arranged the following week.

In the early 1960s, Peter was transferred by his employer, United Air Lines, to the Bay Area in California. He and Joanne relocated and found an apartment in San Mateo. By the mid-1960s, Joanne had had four miscarriages. The couple decided to adopt a child, a 2 year old girl. The adoption was finalized in 1966. Joanne became pregnant during the lengthy months of the adoption proceedings, but because of her history of miscarriages, the Wysockis chose to continue with the adoption. This time, Joanne delivered a healthy son.

During the years that her children were growing, Joanne was a stay at home mother who was very involved in the children's schooling. She frequently volunteered to help with events such as field trips, and even taught an elective course in cake decorating, for which she had quite a talent, to students at her children's school.

After her daughter graduated from high school and left for college, Joanne decided to return to the work force. She worked several years for an insurance agency, then took a job at a local private grammar school where she worked until she retired at the age of 62.

In their later years, Joanne and Peter enjoyed working around their home, playing with their grandchildren and taking vacations and cruises. Joanne also enjoyed collecting Irish Belleek, and using the Internet to seek information on vacation spots and to communicate via E-mail.

Sadly, on 3 Feb 2005, Joanne's 72nd birthday, she succumbed to complications related to diabetes.
