Dies Suddenly
Heart Attack Fatal To Well Known Man
Elmer Frederick Skinner, 56 a well known resident of Smethport for 40 years, died unexpectedly at his home on East King street at 8:00 o'clock Tuesday morning.
Coroner Thomas R. Clark Bradford said death was due to acute dilation of the heart. Mr. Skinner had been slightly ill Monday night. His condition, it is believed, was not serious enough to warrant calling a physician. A doctor was called early Tuesday but Mr. Skinner died before his arrival.
Deceased was born in Big Flats NY., on July 10, 1883, but had spent most of his life in Smethport. He was employed as a rig builder by the local drilling contracting firm of Pay & McKiernan.
Surviving are his mother, who resides in Washington, D. C.; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Kraft, of Keating township, and three sons Frederick, William and Lester Skinner, all of Smethport. He is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Bessie Stilson of Warren, Pa., Mrs. Clifton Bright of Gifford, Mrs. Ben Manwaring of Big Flats, NY, and Miss Mary Skinner of Washington, DC and three brothers, William and Leroy of Cushing, OK and Joseph Skinner of Binghamton, NY.
Funeral services will be held at the home Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, the Rev. H. H. Atkins, pastor of the United Brethren Church officiating.
Burlal will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
