Hescock was born in Abbott, Maine, September 10, 1858. He came to California twenty-six years ago.
He was highly respected by his neighbors of the Lone Pine avenue district and a wide circle of friends in Chico.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Ida L. Hescock; a son, Merle R. Hescock, a daughter, Mrs. C.E. Parker of San Francisco; a brother in Oakland and two sisters residing in Maine.
The funeral will be held from the home at 2 o’clock this afternoon. Burial will be made in Chico Cemetery. Rev. E.H. Smith of the First Methodist church will officiate.
Great Oak Camp, Woodmen of the World, will attend the funeral in a body. The pall-bearers, members of the lodge, will be F.E. Hannah, F.M. O’Connell, Richard Westlake, A.C. Heimbach, W.B. Walker and H.F. Proctor.
Hescock had been a member of the Woodmen for several years. He had filled nearly all the offices in the order and had been secretary for seven years.

The members of Great Oak Camp, Woodmen of the World, attended the services in a body, the pallbearers also being from the ranks of the lodge.
Rev. E.H. Smith of the First Methodist Episcopal church officiated. Burial was made in Chico Cemetery.
