Jesse Lee Ashe, son of the late Charles Lee Ashe and Ollie Mae Mathis Ashe; also preceded in death by a son, Michael Ashe.

Survived by his wife, Edith Sitton Ashe; two children, Susan "Susie" Ashe Reece (Bill), and Larry Lee Ashe (Cyndi).Seneca, S.C. - Jesse Lee Ashe, 81, walked into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at Morningside Assisted Living, Seneca, S.C.

The eldest son of the late Charlie and Ollie Ashe, he had been a resident of Penrose, N.C., for most of his adult life. He was a retired employee of the Film Division of Olin Corporation, where he had worked for 39 years. He was a member of Pisgah Forest Baptist Church. Mr. Ashe was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and member of American Legion Post #88 in Brevard, N.C. He enjoyed bowling.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Edith Sitton Ashe; daughter, Susan Reece, and husband, Bill, of Salem, S.C.; son, Larry Ashe, and wife, Cyndy, of Easley, S.C.; two granddaughters, Leshea Reece Carter and husband, Neil, of Morristown, Tenn., and Leigh Ann Ashe, of Boone, N.C.; grandson, Jeff Reece, and wife, Linda, of Fort Mill, S.C.; two sisters, Ella Mae Hoxit and husband, Glen, of Rosman, N.C., and Pansy Monteith and husband, James, of Brevard; five brothers, Edward Ashe and wife, Nadine, of Mills River, N.C., Grady Ashe, of Hendersonville, N.C., James Ashe and wife, Pat, of Zirconia, N.C., Paul Ashe and wife, Rowena, of Brevard, and Randall Ashe and wife, Lynn, of Brevard; several nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving son, Mike, who died in 1970.

A celebration of his life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Pisgah Forest Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m., prior to the service.
