Published in the Lockhart Post-Register on Thurs Feb 25, 1993 HENRY CHAPMAN Henry Herff Chapman, a long time resident of Austin, died Feb. 17, 1993. He was born April 17, 1901 near Seawillow Community, Caldwell County. His maternal grandparents (Wells/Ridout) were children of original settlers and his paternal grandparents (Chapman/Herring) were early settlers of the area. Mr. Chapman was a 1927 graduate of the University of Texas, earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He was married to Reba Lucille Dunlap on April 25, 1931 until her death in 1974. He worked for the City of Austin from 1936 to 1966. serving from 1941 to his retirement as Chief Electrician at the Walter Seaholm Power Plant which provided all the city's electricity most of that time. Mr. Chapman was a member of Austin Masonic Lodge 12 after becoming a Master Mason in 1948. He was also a member of Austin Scottish Rite Masonic Bodies. He was active in earlier years in the Ramshorn Club of Austin, serving on its board in the 1950's. Survivors include a son, William A. Chapman of Lockhart; daughters. Norma Skinner and husband Sam of Lockhart. and Mildred Freitag of Austin; eight grandchildren, Michael and Jennifer Chapman of Wesminstcr. Calif., Camilla Freitag of San Diego, Calif., Brenton Freitag of Lockhart. Milam Freitag of Palo Alto. Calif., Kenneth Hall of Irving, James Hall of Bryan, Olivia Porter of Iola; and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services were Saturday at Lockhart City Cemetery with Masonic services following. Arrangements by'McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart.
