Verna (Mickel) Bush, 84, of Bellwood died Fri., Jan. 28, 2011 at Altoona Hospital. She was born in Blair County to George & Bertha (Lingenfelter) Mickel. She was orphaned at age 12 and then raised by her mother's sister, Martha (Lingenfelter) Reigh. She married Robert L. Bush on July 13, 1946, at the Logan's Valley Baptist Church parsonage, Bellwood. Survived by husband; sister, Idabelle Baggott, of Niger, Africa; brother, Ralph Mickel, of Chambersburg; sisters in-law: Irene Turnbaugh and Faye McCracken, both of Bellwood, and Ann Bush, of Altoona; brother-in-law, Clifford Rhodes, in Ohio; and extended family. Predeceased by 8 brothers: George, William, Earnest, Ralph, Robert and Frank Mickel and Ray and Calvin Lingenfelter and 5 sisters: Rosella, Irene and Ethel Mickel, Alice Osborn and Gladys Grabill. Verna was a 1944 graduate of Altoona High School. She was the bookkeeper at Cornmesser Hardware Store, Bellwood, for nearly 50 years and was owner of Bush's House of Ceramics, Bellwood. Verna attended Faith Bible Church, Antis Township. Russin Funeral Home, Bellwood. Interment, Blair Memorial Park.
