Elvis Dunn,95, of Russellville, AR, formerly of Plainview, passed away Friday, July 25, 2014 at St. Mary's Regional Med Center. The son of Jeffrey Allen Dunn and Minter Ann Williams McGhee, he was born February 25, 1919 in Rover, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 55 years Wilna Dunn; 3 sisters, Elvie Clowers, Adean DePriest, and Velma Clowers.
Left to cherish his memory are two sons, Terry & Rita Dunn of Russellville, Bruce & Robin Dunn of Sallisaw of OK; two daughters, Linda & Johnnie Fielder of Winfield, MO, Cleta Bartlett of Russellville; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Elvis was a US Navy Veteran of World War II. Upon returning to Russellville after his service in the military he attended Arkansas Tech Vocational Center on the GI Bill receiving an auto mechanic certificate. Elvis then began his career in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator. He spent over 40 years in an occupation which he loved and took great pride in. His work took him and his family to Montana, Texas, and Oklahoma. The last few years he spent working on the Arkansas River Navigation project in Ozark, Dardanelle, Pine Bluff and Arkansas Nuclear I. Elvis was a member of First Baptist Church of Russellville, International Union of Operating Engineers and a Mason. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, listening to music and spending time with friends and family.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Humphrey Chapel. Steven Davis will officiate. Burial will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville, AR by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
