Esther Bassit, d. of John & Naomy, was born 17 June 1753 in Derby [Derby Vital Records Vol. LR 6, Page 3; note that "LR" is actually a volume of land records]. She married Ebenezer Plant, both of Derby, Aug. 17, 1774 [Derby Vital Records Vol. TM1, p. 82; Oxford Congregational Church Records, vol. 2, p. 10]; note that TM is a volume of Town Meeting records.
Ebenezer Plant died in Derby in 1786; his estate was probated in 1786 in New Haven [New Haven Probate Records, File #8289]. His will mentions his wife, Esther. Esther Plant was still living on 17 January 1792 when she was appointed guardian to her son, Samuel, a minor then 14 years old [File 8290]. An Esther Plant is also shown on the 1800 Census for Derby.
