A pipefitter doing construction work at the Braidwood Nuclear Power plant was critically injured Saturday morning when a nylon jacket he was wearing caught fire while he was welding.
Bradford Webb, 28 of Romeoville was transfered by helicopter from St. Joseph Medical Center to the burn unit at Foster G. McGaw Hospital (Layola University Medical Center) in Maywood, where he was listed in critical condition late Sauurday.
Officials at St. Joseph Medical Center said he had burns over 55 percent of his body.
A coworker, Victor Anderson 26, of Bourbonnais was also burned. Personnel at St. Joseph said Anderson was treated for burns on his hands and released.
Both men worked for Phillips Getschow. Inc., prime mechanical contractors for the plant, said Dan Demos, district superintendent for Commonwealth Edison.
