Mrs. Okerlund Dies in Hospital
Aged Lady Was Injured In Fall At Home
A fall caused the death of Mrs Carolina Okerlund, 83, highly esteemed East Smethport woman who succumbed in the Kane Community Hospital last Friday morning.
The aged woman sustained a fracture of the hip on Sunday, June 9, the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Cooper, with whom she resided. Mrs. Okerlund failed to rally from the shock of the accident.
Deceased was born in Sweden on May 5, 1857, and had resided here for 50 years. She was united in marriage to John Okerlund, who died a number of years ago.
Many friends throughout this section were saddened by news of Mrs. Okerlund's passing.
Surviving are four daughters: Mrs. William Cooper of East Smethport, Mrs. Dwight Jones of Newark, O., Mrs. Gunda Bond of Kane and Mrs. Joseph Ahlqulst of Stuart, Fla., and three sons, Edwin of East Smethport, Stephen of Mt. Jewett and Oscar of Paulsboro, N.J.
Burial was in the family lot in Rose Hill Cemetery.
