He was born January 7, 1901 in the Town of Herman, WI, a son of the late Herman and Caroline Redetzke Winkel. He attended Pigeon River School.
On Oct 28, 1932, he married Nelda Simonsmeier at Elkhart Lake, WI. The couple celebrated their 50th and 60th Anniversarys.
The couple farmed in the Town of Meeme until 1968, when they moved to Kiel. He was than employed at Kiel Industries, retiring in 1979.
He was a life-long member of St Johns UCC , Schwartzwald.
Survivors include his wife, Nelda; two daughters, Betty Winkel, special friend, Terry, Kiel and Joan (Donald A) Lemke , all of Kiel and one grandson Kevin. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Burial in St. Johns Cemetery, Tn Herman.
