Mrs. Lydia Roethel, 86, of Route 1, Elkhart Lake, died Saturday at her home.

The former Lydia Laux, was born Nov. 15, 1892. in the Town of Schleswig, a daughter of David and Augusta Eich Laux. She attended district school.

On Nov. 27, 1926, she married Arthur Roethel at St. John United Church of Christ in Schwartzwald. The couple farmed in the Town of Schleswig for six years and then moved to a farm in the Town of Herman.

Mr. Roethel died June 30, 1972.

She was a member of St. John UCC in the Town of Herman.

Survivors are a son, Ardon Sr., of the Town of Herman; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. George Koene, of Sheboygan Falls. Another sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John UCC Schwartzwald, the Rev. Dean Roy Miller, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery

Friends may call at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel, after 4 p.m. today and on Tuesday until 11 a.m., and then at the church from noon until the time of services.
