LeRoy Roethel, 15-months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Roethel of the town of Meeme, was drowned one day last week, when he fell into a pail of water that was standing outside the kitchen. The dead baby, with his head partially submerged, was found soon afterward by Miss Hildegard Roethel, aunt of the child.

The parents were working in a field when the child drowned. Miss Roethel had been doing work in the kitchen and put the dish water in a pail and set it outside, going back to finish some work she had started. The baby was toddling around the house and suddenly those in the house missed him and started to look for him. Just outside the house, he was found dead, his body was bent over the pail. There was not much water in the pail, and it is thought the baby wanted to play with it, losing his balance as he reached for the water.

The boy was born April 17, 1924, and was an only child. Funeral services were held Thursday after noon, Rev. Mohme officiating.
