William F. Olm, 79, of Route 1, New Holstein, a retired Town of Meeme farmer, died Sunday night at St. Nicholas Hospital after a lingering illness. For the past three years he had made his home with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Rone Roethel, in the Town of New Holstein. Mr. Olm was born Sept. 12, 1875, in the town of Meeme, a son of the late August and Hannah Schultz Olm. He was married to Miss Emma Laux of the Town of Schleswig on June 1, 1899.
After their marriage, the couple operated the Olm homestead farm in the Town of Meeme, eight miles east of Kiel. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1949. Mr. Olm was a member of the Pigeon River School Board in the town of Meeme for 21 years.
Survivors, in addition to the daughter, are one son, Edgar, of town of Eaton; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild, and a sister, Mrs. Amelia Mathes, of Peotone, Ill. Mrs. Olm died in March, 1953. One son, William Jr., two brothers and three sisters also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church at Schwartzwald, with the Rev. D. Frederick Herzog, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
