Herman D. Marx, 80, owner and operator of the Marx Garage at Ada, died early this morning at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient three days. For the past 49 years he operated the garage at Ada and also did carpentry work. Mr. Marx was also an insurance underwriter for MPR and Lakeland Insurance companies. He was a charter and honorary member of the Ada Fire Department, founded in 1921. Mr. Marx was born Sept. 16, 1891, in the Town of Schleswig, son of the late Peter and Hannah Schneider Marx. He attended school at Schwartzwald.
On July 26, 1919 he married Lydia Marquard of the town of Herman at St. John United Church of
Christ at Schwartzwald. A veteran of World War I, serving in France, he was a member of the Kupfahl-Meyer-Scheib American Legion Post 387 at Franklin and the Disabled Veterans, Chapter 15 of Sheboygan.
Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. William (Lucille) Madson, Sheboygan; a son, Frederick, Ada; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and town brothers, John of Colby, and Paul of Sheboygan. He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services will be at St. John United Church of Christ, Schwartzwald, with the Rev. Dean Roy Miller, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
