m. Sophia Forsaith of Deering, N.H. on Jan. 5, 1830

children: Ann S b.1830; James Forsaith b. 1832; William Austin b. 1836; and Laura Mack b. 1838

received as thorough an education as could be obtained at the common schools; spent his life in Plainfield and cared for his parents until their death; taught for many years in the schools of this and adjancent towns; Town Clerk in 1833 and served 12 yrs; a very plain and careful penman and very exact in making records; rep in the Legislature in 1841 and '42; appointed Justice of the Peace and served as such for abt 40 years; professed Christ and joined the church at age 78 years, giving good evidence during the remainder of his life that he had indeed "passed from death unto life"; gave much attn to the study of common law and though he never took any regular course, was considered excellent authority by the people of town in ordinary matters of law, being often consulted on legal subjects, and his opinions when given were very seldom wrong [History of Plainfield by Dyer pg 171-172]
