J. W. Beardsley died at Ilionhea, N.Y. yesterday morning at 6 o'clock. He will be buried there. Prescott Journal 8-28-1868 We last week published an announcement of the death of Dr. J. W. Beardsley, at the home of his mother in Illion, N.Y. in the absence of his wife, who had gone to be with home, unfortunately too late to see him in life, we are unable to give the facts of his earlier life.For ten years past he has been in active business life here, and few in this county but knew him personally. He was always prominent as a local politician, was a member of the Legislature of 1862, and was elected speaker of that body. Energetic, public-spirited, generous, he contributed much to build up this county and leaves but few among his business associates who are as marked men as he. He was afterwards as earnest and active democrat, and in all the relations of life was much esteemed for the frankness and sincerity of his character. He was borne in Herzimer (Herkimer) county, New York, where he died and belonged to a family noted in that State for its ability and prominence.
