The family and friends of Mr. Herman Kuhlman were shocked at his sudden death which occurred Wednesday afternoon at 5:40 o'clock, November 2, 1938, at the age of 72. Mr. Kuhlman, a retired employee of the Peterson Art Furniture Company, had been ill only three days, and during only the last day was his illness considered of a serious nature. He was born in Hessen, Germany, October 30, 1866 and came to the United States with his parents, at the age of six months. His early life was spent in Richland township, moving later to Faribault. On December 28, 1900 he was married to Mrs. Caroline Brandemeyer Ableman. He retired some eight years ago after thirty years as an employee of the Peterson Art Furniture Factory.
Left to mourn his sudden passing are his widow, and five children, Roy Kuhlman, Mrs. Arnodl Zoesch, (Leonore); Mrs. Carl Neuman, (Gertrude); Mrs. Albert Frydenlund, (Clara), and Lawrence Ableman, all of this city. He also leaves a brother in Los Angeles, and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three children, a grandson, two sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 from the home, 806 N. W. Eighth Avenue, and at 2:00 from the St. Lucas Evangelical and Reformed Church, with the Rev. Walter Merzdorf officiating. Interment was made in the Maple Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers were August Dettmer, Henry Haefemeyer, C. W. Koelle, William Grote, W. M. Hachfield and William Ackman. Attending the funeral from away was Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ackman of Rochester.
