Funeral services for Mrs. Herman Kuhlman, 80, were held at St. Luke's Evangelical and Reformed Church on Monday, August 4, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Victor Grupe officiating.
Mrs. Kuhlman died at St. Lucas Hospital Friday, August 1, following a lingering illness. A brief family service was held at the Parker Funeral Home at 11 a. m. Monday, Mrs. Lily Herr and Mrs. Levi Stoxen sang "Anywhere With Jesus" and "Be Still, My Soul," accompanied by Mrs. Lester Nichols. Pallbearers were Henry Hafemeyer, Alfon Kiekenapp, Frank Kielmeyer, William Koopmans, Erwin Bultman, and Reinhold Kiekenapp, all of Faribault. Interment was made in the family lot in Maple Lawn cemetery.
Mrs. Herman Kuhlman (nee Caroline Brademeyer) was born near Elgin, Illinois, on September 16, 1872, the daughter of Henry and Sophia Bradmeyer. When she was two years old, the family moved to Minnesota, where her father farmed in Wheeling Township. She attended St. John's parochial school in Wheeling and later was confirmed at St. John's Church.
On October 26, 1893, she was married to William Ableman at St. John's Church. They had a son, Lawrence, and a daughter, Clara. Mr. Ableman passed on November 11, 1896.
She was married to Herman Kuhlman December 27, 1900, at Dickinson, North Dakota. They were the parents of two sons, Roy and Clarence, and four daughters, Lenora, Gertrude, Cora, and Laura. Clarence, Cora, and Laura all died in infancy.
The family lived on a farm near Taylor, North Dakota, for a number of years, then moved to a farm in Wheeling Township. In 1914 they moved to Faribault. Mr. Kuhlman preceded his wife in death on November 2, 1938.
Mrs. Kuhlman was a member of St. Luke's from the time she moved to Faribault and was active in the work of the Women's Guild.
She is survived by two sons, Lawrence Ableman of Faribault and Roy Kuhlman of Rochester; three daughters, Mrs. Albert Frydenlund (Clara) and Mrs. Karl Neumann (Gertrude) of Faribault and Mrs. Arnold Zoesch (Lenora) of Minneapolis; and nine grandchildren.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband and three children, were one grandson, Stanley Frydenlund, who died in infancy; two brothers, Henry Brademeyer and Charles Brademeyer; and two sisters, Mrs. Sophia Ackman and Mrs. Wilhelmina Ableman.
