Lorinda was born to Joseph Keeler and Elizabeth (Rosenberry) Keeler. Her parents were LDS members and they came from Illinois to the wintering camp in Ne. Joseph died there and Elizabeth opened a way station for travelers, in order to support the chldren she still had at home. April 8, 1867, Lorinda was wed to Oscar S Burt who had just returned from serving in the Union Army. They homesteaded on land in Saunders County until Oscar passed away at age 46. Lorinda kept the land and raised her remaining children there. She was my dad's grandmother and he used to call her his "six gun grannie". Apparently she was up to whatever life threw at her, and in those days, I'm sure it was a matter of survival!
