Howard P. Barton , 74, formerly of 1217 Route 420, died Tuesday at Highland Nursing Home, Massena.
Mr. Barton served with the Army during World War II and was a heater operator with Aluminum Company of America, Massena, until his retirement, after 42 years.
Born Nov. 15, 1923, in Massena, a son of Edward and Viola McGregor Barton , he married Jean Famous on Feb. 8, 1947, in Massena. She died Dec. 17, 1993.
He was a member of Alcoa 25-Year Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1143 and Amvets Post 4.
Surviving are a son, Howard J., at home; two daughters, Katherine Sharpe, Florida, and Laura Barton , California; a brother, Floyd, Brasher Falls, and several nephews and nieces.
Five brothers and two sisters died before him.
The funeral will be at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Memorial Home with the Rev. Beth Benham presiding. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Massena.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1143 meeting at 7:15 p.m. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
