HOPE -- Helen T. Griner, 79, of Hartsville died at 8:35 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at Miller's Merry Manor at Hope.
A former employee of Cummins Engine Co., retiring in 1975, Mrs. Griner was a member of Hartsville United Methodist Church, a charter member of Hartsville Home Economics Club and an avid quilter.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Norman Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Grubaugh officiating. Calling will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Bartholomew County or the Alzheimer's Association.
Born in Brown County Aug. 29, 1921, Mrs. Griner was the daughter of Chipp and Ruth Borton Turner. She married William H. Griner Sept. 12, 1941. He survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Sandra Beckett of Georgetown; grandchildren, Betsy Beckett of Edinburgh, Polly Beckett of Charlotte, N.C., and Barry Beckett of Georgetown; a sister, Bessie Clephane of Indianapolis; and three great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Alvin Turner.
