Kenneth Joe Wheeler, 60, of Nampa, died Tuesday, February 3, 1998, near Parma from a construction-related accident. Ken was a general contractor in the Boise Valley for 30 years, doing commercial construction. He worked on the Hells Canyon Dam, missile bases, and on the Job Corp. He also did a lot of construction work for the telephone company and at Dry Lake. He served on the LDS Building Committee in Salt Lake City. He built numerous LDS Churches and the Welfare Center in Meridian. He was also involved with the building of churches and stake centers in McCall, Ontario, Caldwell and Nampa. He was always encouraging and supportive to others in the construction industry. He was very pleased to have his sons follow him in the field of construction. He was very active in his community through politics, community programs, youth basketball and school activities. He was a member of the LDS Church where he held multiple callings, including Bishop, and served all with great diligence. He married Linda Ewing on June 26, 1960, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He was the father of six children in whom he was very pleased and proud. He found great joy in his 14 grandchildren, who will all miss his teasing and kisses very much. Recently, Kenneth and Linda retired to a home in Cascade where they were enjoying the companionship of the people there. Ken will be remembered for his kindness and generosity to everyone.
He is survived by: his wife, Linda of Nampa; his children, Kenneth Joe and Jolene Wheeler and their five children, Jared, Kam, Carriesa, Brandon and Cole of Nampa, Christy and David Garner and their five children, Richie, Makenna, Ross, Jacob and Jeffery of Bluffdale, UT, Brad and Teresha Wheeler and their two children, Dexter and Dallon of Nampa, Shane and Tonya Wheeler and their two children, Keara and Spencer of Parma, ID and Shannon and Sheree Wheeler of Nampa; his mother, Lorraine Wheeler of Nampa; three sisters, Bonnie Nebeker, Norma Hinck and Judy Atwood; a brother, Fred Wheeler of Nampa and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Wheeler, and brother, Dean Wheeler and three grandchildren.
