Lifelong Resident of Auburn Area Passed Away Two Hours After Heart Seizure at Rural Home
Kirby Atlee Lawhead, 76, who resided on Rt. 3, Auburn, died at the Dr. J. A. Sanders hospital in Auburn at 5:30PM Thursday.

Mr. Lawhead suffered a heart seizure at his home about 3:30PM Thursday and was rusheed to the hospital where he died about two hours later.

He had been suffering from a heart ailment for the past year but had been able to be up and around as usual until the sudden attack.

He was born in DeKalb County on September 25, 1887, and resided in the area all of his lifetime. He was a son of James and Eliza Lawhead.

On June 14, 1910, he and Cecile Townley were united in marriage and they were the parents of eight children, six of whom survive.

The survivors include his wife, one son, Atlee Lawhead of Lovelock, NV, five daughters, Mrs. Violet Barlow of Falls Church, VA, Mrs. Marjorie Dyer of Anderson, IN, Mrs. Thyra Durst of 220 S. Cleveland Street, Auburn, IN, Mrs. Coleen Barlow of Baton Rouge, LA and Mrs. Loreen Butler of Dallas, Tx, 22 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a brother, Dr. Nixon Lawhead of Detroit, MI. A daughter Mrs. Virginia Martin and a son Verlin Lawhead preceeded him in death.
The body is at the Gerig funeral home in Auburn where freinds may call after 10AM Saturday

Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home at 2PM Sunday with the Rev. John Paul Jones, pastor of the First Methodist church in Auburn officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, near Auburn.
